We want to suggest a great little lunch spot in Istanbul where we not only enjoyed a delicious horizontally roasted meat-spice kebob but had the pleasure of meeting a warm and intelligient host/owner who charmiongly made suggestions that really enriched our visit. It was located right near the Blue Mosque, without the usual tourist rip-off. Look for Mustafa Kay at CAG KEBAP at Kucukayasofya Caddesi No: 4 Sultanahmet/Istanbul. We enjoyed it so much that we returned at night for a tasty fish dinner, Sea Bream-the local Izmir treat (which Mustafa sent over for at our order, from the main Istanbul fish market, delivered within 15 minutes. Can't get fresher than that! And with our food, came the warmth and friendship that normally only happens after a much longer relationship. Do try this local spot. Tell Mustafa that Phyllis sent you.
